WHO IS HTSC

Hinterland Tourism Sunshine Coast consists of business houses and tourism operators from all over the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, from Landsborough, Mooloolah and Palmwoods out to Kenilworth and all areas in-between, encompassing Mapleton, Flaxton, Montville, Maleny, Reesville, Witta and Connondale.

The HTSC is an Incorporated Body (evolved from the Blackall Range Business and Tourism Association, BRBTA), which operates under a set of Model Rules.

Some of its key objectives are:
  • Promotion of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland as a tourism destination
  • Caring for the public interest of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland
  • Formulation of policy on matters pertaining to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland
  • Liaison and working with other Tourism Associations, Chambers of Commerce and Local Councils

The HTSC has an executive of elected members who are voted in annually at the AGM, which is held in October each year. The primary function of the executive is to act on behalf of its members, including looking for ways to maintain and improve awareness of the area as a key destination for tourists and visitors.


WHAT ROLE DOES HTSC PLAY

HTSC does many things, including:
  • Organising promotions and events to gain awareness in the market place of what the Sunshine Coast Hinterland has to offer.
  • Lobbying local Council Tourism boards, Regional & State tourism bodies to appropriate on behalf of the members to various organizations and funding groups to facilitate funding support towards planned promotions and publications.
  • Working in co-operation with the Maleny, Maleny Hinterland, Glasshouse, Kenilworth, Mapleton and Montville Visitor Information Centres


WHAT CAN HTSC DO FOR ITS MEMBERS?

An organization's strength and power is determined by its size and its representation...the more strength the organization has, the more recognition it has in the eyes of the various tourism boards and funding groups.

The more members, the more financial the association, giving more scope for promotion and marketing. This is vital in an age of strong competition from other tourism destinations that also promote in our targeted areas.
