New Mary Cairncross Building Opening Soon Construction of the impressive new tourist building at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is on track for a March opening. Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve Rainforest Discovery Centre is being built at a cost of $4.7 million, supported by $1 million funding from the Queensland Tourism Infrastructure Fund. The centre looks impressive with classic rock walls and a deck that overlooks what is arguably one of the Sunshine Coast’s most stunning views, over the Glasshouse Mountains. The centre is also the gateway to the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve’s walking tracks through the adjacent rainforest. The forest is home to a wide array of Australian flora and fauna in a peaceful setting not far from the Maleny township. The Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve Management Advisory Committee is also dedicating $250,000 to the construction project.
